In Golden Gate Estates, a Burmese python measuring about nine feet consumed a family’s pet peacock named Violet. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers responded and removed the snake by hand. Neighbors described a sudden absence of plumage and a sudden presence of reptile. Violet did not survive the conversion from feather to scale.
